Built as a passenger ferry by 1946 by Sittingbourne Shipbuilders, larch on oak with steel decks and superstructure, twin Ford 4 cylinder diesels. Drydocked & surveyed, and taken back to bare wood in 2009. Since then she has been dry docked 2 other times and a professional shipwright keeps and eye on her for the owner. The man that actually built her saw her again in 2009 ( he was 84 then). She replaced two vessels which had taken part in the Dunkirk ‘little ships” rescue mission but which had never returned. Originally called - The Silver Queen 2- she was originally licensed to carry 120 passengers.
Her first owner was Nick Carter who put her to work between 1946 and 1948 sailing from Sheerness beach using a mobile landing platform. He wanted a boat to replace the Pride of Sheppey which had been lost at Dunkirk.

The is an exquisite hand crafted wooden bath (£6000 new) that looks and feels amazing. There is plenty of seating down below decks for socializing or eating. She is a very strong vessel and looks to have many more years as long as she is maintained.

“The Sheppey Queen is certainly a unique vessel and one of a kind. She was built to be strong. The Sittingbourne Ship Building Company also built harbour defence motor launches which inspired her design.
The owner says “She has worked hard all her life and, at the age of 70, is still in a very good condition. She is still running and will be happy to go back to work!”
This lovely vessel also has charming accommodation which is very cosy and the current owner has enjoyed living on her for the past 16 years. She has maintained the vessel under the watchful eye of a local shipwright too. A rare find which will be of immense value to her next owner.
