Commentaires du Broker
Freedom Yachts, founded in 1962 in Rhode Island, USA set out to pioneer a new design for sailboat production. They are best known for their freestanding rig, allowing for better control and steering capabilities. In addition to the new technology in rigging, they boast a wide variety of technological advances. Their hulls were very strong yet lightweight, using fiberglass sandwich with balsa core.
The Freedom 27 is well balanced and easy to handle. She has a large fully battened mainsail which is hoisted with the help of an electric winch and dropped into a stack pack system. The jib is self tacking and the absence of shrouds makes her clear and uncluttered on deck and safe to move around. She has wheel steering (a tiller for emergency steering) and the helm position is again uncluttered as there is no backstay required. Down below she is remarkably light and spacious. The layout is traditional, a V berth forward, the saloon converts to a double and a quarter berth aft.
In her current ownership she has had numerous upgrades and is presented beautifully. Her interior timber, recently reoiled looks smart and she is clean and fresh below. This is a really nice example of an innovative design, rarely seen in the UK and she is fully in commission and ready to sail
